Alice Christensen

March 27, 1921 — April 25, 2013

Alice Marie Christensen was born March 27, 1921, in Schleswig, Iowa, to Rudolph W. Christensen and Caroline Marie (Hollander) Christensen. She passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, attaining the age of 92.
Alice was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. She attended school in Schleswig and graduated with the class of 1938. She attended Van Sant Business School in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1940. Alice ventured to San Diego, California, in 1941 and worked in the business office of Consolidated Aircraft during the war years. She moved to Portland, Oregon and worked in a Fur Store and did modeling. She took the Civil Service Exam and began working for U.S.D.A. in Portland in 1949 until the office was closed. Alice transferred to Minneapolis in January 1963. In July 1975 she transferred to Kansas City, Kansas, and retired from there in 1985. She received many awards for her ideas and her work with the U.S.D.A.
While in Oregon Alice enjoyed hunting deer and also managed to successfully hunt goose. She was also a bowler, golfer, and enjoyed traveling and entertaining. Alice moved to the Reed House in Denison in April of 2008 and then entered Eventide in November 2009 where she made many friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister in infancy. Leaving to mourn her death are her sister, Hilda and her husband, Richard Frank of Denison, Iowa; and cousin Marian Klotz Jensen of Geneva, Nebraska; other relatives and friends.
