Doris Auen

Doris Mae Hast was born April 6, 1928, in Buck Grove, Iowa, the daughter of August and Emma Hast. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the age of eighty-six.
Doris was baptized into Christ at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Arion, Iowa and later confirmed into faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak , Iowa. She graduated from Storm Lake with a teaching degree and taught in country schools and grade schools in Wall Lake Iowa. On June 1, 1947, Doris was united in marriage to Arnold Auen at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, the couple was blessed with the birth of five children.
Doris was a loving mother who instilled in her children good morals and stressed the importance of faith. She was a wonderful grandma who loved to play with her grandkids and enjoyed watching them grow up. She loved to camp, fish and play the game fast-track with her family and friends. Doris loved to dance and even won Polka King and Queen of Iowa with her loving husband Arnold. After retiring she spent the winters in southern Texas and summers with her family in Iowa.
Doris was preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Virgil, Vernon and August Jr.; two sisters: Shirley and Molly ( Phyllis ). She is survived by: her husband, Arnold; four daughters: Maureen and her husband, Dale; Becky and Neil Ziegmann; Lori Harrison; Kristi and her husband, Richard; one son, Terry and his wife, Lucy; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Betty and her husband, Keith; two sister-in-laws all from Denison and many other relatives and friends.
