Harold Fredericks

Harold John Fredericks was born March 10th, 1919, the son of Henry and Marie Kiepe Fredericks. He passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-five.
Harold was born on a farm in Hanover Township. He was baptized into Christ on March 21, 1919, at Zion Lutheran Church and later confirmed there on March 27, 1934. On March 22, 1942 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Prosch,in Rockport, Missouri. Harold and Evelyn farmed in the Denison area, but from 1950 to1955 bad weather hit and hailed out his crops 4 years in a row. In 1955, he quit farming and moved to Monterey, California, with his family. In 1959, they purchased a new home in Marina, California, where they resided until 1969. Harold worked at Meadow Gold Dairy delivering milk and ice cream to major grocery stores and restaurants in the Monterey Bay area. In 1969, he returned to Denison, where he worked at World Wide Meats and Bohlmann Inc. In 1971, they moved to Deloit, Iowa, and in 1999 they moved to Eventide Apartments. Harold also worked at the Huebner Funeral Home until he retired in 1998.
Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling in California. He coached little league baseball, and also enjoyed woodworking. Harold enjoyed cars, his favorites were Buicks and he was most fond of a black 1957 Buick that he owned.
A story that Harold often told was about receiving a call from the Teamsters Union to be a Chauffeur. He drove famous Hollywood Actor "Alan Ladd" to several locations where they were filming a movie.
Harold was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Evelyn of 70 years; one brother, Raymond; four sisters, Elsie Petersen, Bernice Suntken, Anna Fredericks and Lorena Petersen. He is survived by: one son, Dean Fredericks and his wife, Betty of York Nebraska; two grandchildren, Sara Kotschwar and her husband, Chris of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Marc Fredericks and his wife, Laura of Kearney, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Collin, Molly Kotschwar, and Emma Fredericks, other relatives and friends.
