James Flynn

September 2, 1950 — May 16, 2013

James Patrick Flynn, known to many as "ARROW", was born September 2, 1950, the son of Melvin and Loretta Flynn. He died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Ambassador Hospice Unit in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 62.
James was born in Perry, Iowa, attending Webster Elementary until moving to Schleswig, Iowa in 1958. He was baptized and confirmed through the United Church of Christ. He left Schleswig Community High School in 1968 to join the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he chose to roam and work his way around the country. He is a member of the Denison Post No. 8 American Legion.
No one was a stranger to him for long. He was open, considerate, and respectful to all. He always had kinds words for everyone and his niece and nephews were a priority to him. They all have fond memories of his time and special attention. One of his many "philosophies" was "No half-stepping" and he lived life accordingly, especially when he struggled with numerous injuries and physical limitations after a near fatal car accident over twenty years ago. He remained as independent as he could, enjoying casino activity, listening to music, drinking coffee or Mountan Dew or eating chocolate ice cream while visiting with friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Rae; and one nephew, James Michael. Survivors include sister, Carol of Crystal, Minnesota; two brothers, Ronald and wife Beverly of Nevis, Minnesota; and Richard and wife MaryLu of Danbury, Iowa; niece, Jennifer Skruppy (Dave), nephews: Jeffrey Skruppy, Jesse Flynn, Jason Flynn (Nicole), great nieces: Raylee and Jasmine; and step nieces and nephews Charlie and Kellie Anders; Jennifer and John Geyer; Kristin and Dave Misamore; and Dan and Hannah Pishko; one uncle, two aunts, many cousins, and numerous friends.
