Lowell Aldag

December 21, 1925 — September 15, 2013

Lowell Dean Aldag was born December 21, 1925, the son of Theodore H. and Alma Lange Aldag. He passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 87.
Lowell was born on the family farm in Hayes Township near Schleswig, Iowa. He graduated from Denison High School in Denison, Iowa. On March 28, 1944, Lowell joined the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1946. After serving his country he was employed by North American Aviation, North American Rockwell and then as a Quality Control Contractor by the Department of Defense. In 1948 Lowell was united in marriage to Robbie McFadden and to this union was born three sons.
Lowell enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He looked forward to trips to California when he could spend time with his family and his grandchildren that lived there. When Lowell made a friend, they remained a friend for life. He was a man of strong-will and opinion, yet able to be sensitive to other people. Lowell loved to help others and visited people who lived alone, offering comfort to those in need. Lowell liked to listen to all kinds of music, but especially country music and Frank Sinatra songs. He also enjoyed watching TV, western movies, and playing Euchre. In 1978 Lowell became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. At the time of his death he was actively involved with the Lake City congregation.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merlin in 1979; one sister-in-law, Erna Mae Aldag; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Blunk and Jerome Lemon. Survivors include three sons: Steve Aldag and his wife, Tammy of Lake Arrowhead, California; Kevin Aldag and his wife, Chandra, of Chino, California; and Mike Aldag of Cherokee, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Kenneth Aldag of Denison; and Ted Aldag and his wife, Marla of Kiron, Iowa; and two sisters: Joyce Blunk and Joleen Lemon, both of Kiron; other relatives and friends.
