Melda Lynn Adams was born October 19, 1947, the daughter of William and Helen Coop Haney. She passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at her home in Dow City, Iowa, at the age of 65.
Melda was born in Marysville, Iowa. She received her education in Marion County, Iowa, Attica, Iowa, schools and attended high school in Logan, Iowa. Melda was united in marriage to Ardell Clarence Adams on May 16, 1970. They were the first couple married at the Lutheran Church in Logan.
Melda kept busy taking care of her home and raising her children. She loved children, especially her grandchildren, and ran a home day care business for many years. Melda had a soft heart for people and animals and liked to watch the birds, squirrels, and other wildlife outside. She enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards and games with family and friends, reading her Bible and other books, and listening to Gospel and country music. When she watched television, she liked old westerns, medical programs, and NBA basketball. Melda looked forward to family reunions and loved to visit on the phone, especially with her sisters. Melda was baptized and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City, Iowa.
Melda was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Clarence Adams; two sisters: Nona Hurlbut and Karen Pettyjohn; and one brother, Darrell Haney. She is survived by her husband, Ardell of Dow City; three children: DaNette Waderich and her husband, Denny of Dow City; Travis Adams of Independence, Missouri; and Stephanie Adams of Dow City; five grandchildren, Lexie and Lia Adams; Dustin Waderich and his wife, E'bess and David Waderich and his wife, Brittany; and Anthony Adams; one great-grandson, Jonah Waderich; her mother-in-law, Lois Adams of Denison; special great-niece, Melissa Stevens; three sisters: Leslie Block and Harry of Omaha, Nebraska; Gladys Trujillo and her husband, Chuck of Golden, Colorado; and Donna Spray of Livonia, Michigan; one brother, Chester Pete Haney of Omaha; two sisters-in-law, Rita Lingle and Lola Bloyer and her husband Jim; all of Sioux City, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
