Norman Schoenfeld

Norman Arthur Schoenfeld was born September 25, 1927, the son of Herbert and Ann Preul Schoenfeld. He passed away, Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 85.
Norman was born in rural Charter Oak, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on May 6, 1929, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa, and confirmed there on March 25, 1945. Norman received his education in the St. Paul Lutheran School in Hanover Township. After he completed his education he worked for area farmers. On November 16, 1949, Norman was united in marriage to Marilyn Franzek. The couple made their home in Schleswig and were blessed with the birth of three children. After Norman was married, he worked for Bart Bielenberg at the feedmill, Farmers Lumber and Grain, and finally at Farmland in Denison for 16 years before retiring in 1986.
Norman was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather who treasured his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as grilling, mowing, going on a drive around the countryside, and vegetable gardening. Norman was a very loving and giving person and gave much of his homegrown produce to others. He was a good candy maker and loved to treat others with his homemade goodies. He looked forward to his daily visit with friends over coffee and cookies at Cheetas. Norman liked to watch golf, Wheel of Fortune, and the morning news programs on television.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife of 51 years, Marilyn; two brothers: Delbert and Alfred; and one sister, Narlene Keim and her husband, Howard. Survivors include two daughters: Cathy Bubke and her husband, Tom of Schleswig; and Mary Hansen and her husband, Mitch of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Gale Schoenfeld of Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Darren and Kelly Wessel of Schleswig; Chris Harm of Parker, Colorado; John and Kim Peters of LeMars, Iowa; Krista and Joe Riesselman of Denison; Stephanie and Jason Starzl of Mesa, Arizona; T.J. and Melissa Bubke of Schleswig; Brent Hansen of Kansas City, Missouri; and seven great-grandchildren: Taylor and Katie Peters of LeMars; Jonathan and Wyatt Riesselman of Denison; Bryli & Brenna Bubke of Schleswig; and Hailey Starzl of Mesa, Arizona; one brother, Alvern Schoenfeld and his wife, Betty of Mesa, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Norma Schoenfeld of Schleswig; and special friend, Ramona Ullrich of Denison; other relatives and friends.
