Phillip Neddermeyer

Phillip Christian Neddermeyer was born February 25, 1923, the son of Adolph and Eleanor Ullerich Neddermeyer. He passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 90.
Phillip was born in Crawford County near Charter Oak, Iowa. He was baptized on April 1, 1923, by Rev. Amstein and confirmed on March 21, 1937, by Rev. Schroeder at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He received his education in the Charter Oak Community School through the 11th grade when he enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 10, 1943. He was a member of the Paratroopers during WWII and awarded a Purple Heart. On October 9, 1945, he received his honorable discharge. Phillip was united in marriage to Elva Mae (Pat) Baker on October 18, 1947. The couple made their home on an acreage near Charter Oak where they farmed and Phillip bought and sold cattle. They liked going to auctions and antiquing. After battling cancer, Pat passed away October 19, 1996. Phillip then moved to Odebolt, Iowa.
On April 19, 1998, Phillip married Arda Lee Zoch at Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt. They moved to Denison, Iowa, and enjoyed going to dances in the area three nights a week for many years. Euchre, Pinochle, and Skip-Bo were some of their favorite card games they enjoyed in their spare time. Phillip was a life-time and dedicated member of the American Legion Homer Hall Post 66 in Charter Oak for 68 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Pat. Survivors include his wife, Arda Lee of Denison; five stepchildren: Lesley Zoch and his wife, Kris of Haysville, Kansas; Steven Zoch and his wife, Gayle of Fairmont, Minnesota; Tommy Zoch and his wife, Dawn of Neola, Iowa; Deborah Smith and her husband, Lolane of Des Moines, Iowa; and Deniece Mattheis and her husband, Lynn of Aurelia, Iowa; 16 stepgrandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Neddermeyer of Omaha, Nebraska; other relatives and friends.
