Roger Weinbrandt

Roger William Weinbrandt was born April 8, 1932, the son of Christian and Anna Weinbrandt, in rural Vail, Iowa. He died at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the age of 83.
Roger was baptized into faith on August 24, 1932, and confirmed in faith on April 10, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Roger received his education in rural schools near Vail and Deloit through the 8th grade. On February 26, 1956, Roger was united in marriage with Lorraine Marsh; they were blessed with the birth of four children. The couple made their home in rural Deloit where Roger farmed for many years. He then worked for Crawford County road maintenance, retiring after nine years.
Roger was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. His love of dancing brought he and his wife together and over the years their partnership won them a competition. He also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, going to the sale barn, and bowling in a league. He had an outgoing nature and loved to socialize with neighbors and friends. Roger was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Donald and his wife, Maxine; Gerald and his wife, Linda; one sister: Joan and her husband, Richard; one brother-in-law, Orville and one grandson, Nathan. Survivors include: his loving wife, Lorraine of nearly 60 years; his children, Marlys and her husband, Keith; Allen; Marlene and her husband, Doyle; Janet and her husband, Jeff; six grandchildren: April and her husband, Brad; Aaron and special friend, Jenny; Kelsey and her husband, Matt; Heather and her husband, John; Douglas and his wife, Sarah; Courtney and her fianc, Adam; one great-grandson expected in 2016; one sister, Norma of Wall Lake; one brother-in-law, Everett and his wife, Evonne; one sister-in-law, Judie Marsh; many other relatives and friends.
