Bethany Sundquist

July 25, 1935 — June 21, 2019

Bethany Sundquist was born July 25, 1935, at Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Isabelle Boldt. She passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-three.
Beth attended high school in Newton, Iowa, until the family moved to Fremont, Nebraska, during her junior year. She was a 1953 graduate of Fremont High School. She furthered her education with one year at Midland College before transferring to the University of Nebraska, where she received her bachelor of science degree in nursing in 1958. Following graduation, she was employed at Veterans Administration Hospital and later a private practice Pediatrician in Omaha, Nebraska.
On September 17, 1966, Beth was united in marriage to Stephen Sundquist in Fremont, Nebraska. The ceremony was officiated by Beth's father, Rev. Frederick Boldt. Following their marriage, Steve and Beth settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Beth became a stay-at-home mom with their children Kim and Kyle, diligently caring for her family. In the middle '70's, Beth returned to her nursing career and was employed with the Visiting Nurses Association in Omaha. In 1977, the family moved to Denison, Iowa, and Beth was employed as a nurse at Wesco.
Beth loved to spend time with her children. She was a wonderful grandma to her grandchildren, enjoying time with them at their events, the lake, and several vacations. She also liked to play Bridge and read, especially mysteries and novels. She was particularly fond of watching Days of Our Lives. Beth was a member of the PEO and of various church choirs through the years. Watching Iowa State football games also brought her much enjoyment. Steve and Beth enjoyed traveling and were able to take many memorable trips to Hawaii, Florida, the Black Hills and to numerous national parks. The couple also enjoyed spending time at their cabins at Spirit Lake and Okoboji where Beth loved to go boating, swimming, water skiing and just relaxing in the solitude of the lake environment.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert. Survivors include: her husband, Steve; one daughter, Kim and her husband, John; one son, Kyle; three grandchildren, Owen and his wife Kelsi, Kallen, and Bailey; one great-grandchild, Belle; two sisters-in-law, Anne and Jo Ann; eight nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
