Evelyn Reimers

Evelyn Marie Reimers was born December 30, 1924, the daughter of Christian and Sadie Brockman Carstensen. She passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 88.
Evelyn was born in Charter Oak, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on January 16, 1925, by Pastor Amstein in Charter Oak, Iowa, and confirmed by Pastor Wagner at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, Charter Oak. Evelyn received her education in various rural country schools in Crawford and Monona counties. Evelyn was employed as a housekeeper, waitress, launderer and a store clerk. She worked on the farm and cared for a flock of chickens and sold eggs. Many knew her as the egg lady.
On November 16, 1952, Evelyn was united in marriage to Wilbur L. Reimers. The couple made their home on the family farm in Goodrich Township and were blessed with the birth of five children.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she loved spending time with her family and friends. Evelyn enjoyed dancing, playing cards, embroidering, and cooking. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Fellowship Club, Ladies Aid, and Evening Guild. Evelyn also served on the Legion Auxiliary.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother-in-law, Glen Dieber. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Wilbur of Denison; two sons: Ron Reimers and his wife, Karen of Denison; and Roger Reimers and his wife, Val of Defiance; three daughters: Rhonda Reimers of North Judson, Indiana; Deb Coles and her husband Mike of Huxley, Iowa; and Kay Riessen and her husband, Harry of Schleswig, Iowa; 13 Grandchildren; one sister, Lois Dieber of Sioux City, Iowa; and one brother, Wilbur Carstensen and wife, Maxine of Dallas Center, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
