Meleta Schultz

Meleta A. W. Schultz was born on January 21, 1916, the daughter of Willie and Leonora Stender Miller. She died on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 96.
Meleta was born in rural Morgan Township near Schleswig, Iowa. She was baptized and was later confirmed in 1929 at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church at Schleswig. She grew up on a farm and received her education at rural schools in MorganTownship in Crawford County. On August 24, 1941, Meleta and Arthur Schultz were united in marriage at Schleswig. Together they made their home on the family farm near Schleswig. The couple was blessed with the birth of two sons. In 1980, Art and Meleta retired and moved to Schleswig.
Meleta was a dedicated church member. While living on the farm, she was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, and after moving to Schleswig, she transferred her membership to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. She was active at both churches and enjoyed Ladies Aid, choir and Lamplighters. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends.
Meleta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in May 1981; two sons, Marlowe in December 2006; and Lloyd in July 1987; and one sister, Mildred and her husband, Edwin Hargens. Survivors include two daughters-in-law: Diana Schultz of Schleswig; and Carol Schultz of Spirit Lake, Iowa; four grandchildren: Todd Schultz and his wife, Kris of Schleswig; Stacy Olson and her husband, David of Blair, Nebraska; Stephanie Reicks and her husband, Graig of Brookings, South Dakota; and Andy Schultz and his wife, Becca of Spirit Lake, Iowa; six great-grandchildren: Spencer and Payton Schultz; Aidan and Chase Olson; and Camden and Cayler Reicks; other relatives and friends.
