Adlyn grew up in a modest home surrounded by many family members. She learned early the importance of hard work but still managed to develop the witty personality so many grew to know and love. She and her siblings walked in 10 feet of snow uphill both ways to a one-room school. There, her lunch was Grandma’s leftover sugar pancakes that would later become one of the many beloved recipes she shared with her own children.

She married Maynard Raymond Ohl on July 11, 1953. She gained an instant family of six children and soon delivered the first of six more. For many years, Adlyn stayed home to care for children, which, among other things, involved taking them to church and Sunday school and making sure they had the best food in town. Many don’t know of her beautiful singing voice. She had such talent that the kids thought she could be a famous country singer but were thankful she just wanted to be “mom.”

As the children grew, she entered the workforce, where her serving heart and that witty personality were finally shared with the world. She had various jobs with Alco, Walmart, The Red Lantern, and the DC-A school. She is probably best known for her work and cooking at the family bar, the Mosey Inn.

Adlyn loved spending time with her family and always had enough food for an army. From the very simple servings of toast and cocoa to the thousands of her famous sugar pancakes, to the vegetable soup and dumplings, and anything with homemade noodles, she was known for cooking. She cooked with love, and she loved cooking. She also loved listening to country music, but the real music to her ears was the bells of the slot machines at the casino.

In her later years, she resided at Gracewell Memory Care, where her love of life and, again, that witty personality brightened everyone’s day. Her main concerns were still her family and her food. She was always worried about the kids, who had now grown into adults. But to her, they would always be perpetual children—carefree, youthful, and ornery. And, of course, she needed someone to make the vegetable soup because she had retired herself from that job, even though no one could make it quite like her.

Adlyn died on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, quietly, with her daughter and fellow Gracewell resident, Melanie, by her side. She was 91 years old. The family had been there to assure her it was okay to go. They had waited patiently for her to pass, but Adlyn had her own plan. And as the two of them were quiet and alone in the room, she slipped away, surely thinking in her mind… “I Will Always Love You.”
