Amy Lou Christianson was born April 14, 1932, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Helen Olson. She crossed over Friday, January 4, 2019, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six.
In her youth, Amy enjoyed roller skating, reading, writing, playing the piano and lived at the swimming pool during the summer months. She graduated from Denison High School in 1950 at the top of her class and was a baton twirler and started the high school girls basketball team. She attended UNO for one year and was united in marriage to Sam Christianson November 18, 1951. The couple lived in Harlan, Iowa, where Amy was a dental assistant until the passing of her father. Amy and Sam moved to Denison to run the family business, Olson Produce. They were blessed with the birth of one daughter, Jeri.
She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader for 9 years and served on the Nishnabotna Girl Scout council for 5 years, worked with Telecare and was a member of the Nebraskaland Thunderbird Club. Amy had a special affection for all of God’s creatures, especially her cat, Jelly Bean, and her furry grand babies. She enjoyed collecting Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs collectibles, reading murder mysteries, creating miniature room boxes and all their furnishings and writing poetry as well as short stories. She was also a member of MENSA and enjoyed working on the computer.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sam. Survivors include one daughter, Jeri and her husband, Gordon; other relatives and friends.
