Barbara Sue Millhouse

August 14, 1962 — April 4, 2024

Barbara, more affectionally known as Barbie, Sue (Jenkins) Millhouse was born the daughter of Carroll Jenkins, Sr. and VioletLou (Johannsen) Jenkins on August 14, 1962, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended Iowa School of the Deaf in Council Bluffs and graduated with the class of 1980. 

Following high school, she married Clifford Merritt and the couple had two daughters: Michelle and Sarah and they made their home in Council Bluffs. The couple later divorced. She then married Donald Wolford and three daughters were born to this union: Sherry, Tara, and Kimberly. The couple later divorced. She then had a partner, Ernest Malone, the couple resided in Arion for 10 years and three children were born to this union: Adam, Roseanne, and Jacob Brown (Shawn Jenkins). Barbie then relocated to Fairfield, Iowa with Douglas Millhouse and the couple was married on July 14, 2010, they made their home in Omaha and later Dow City.

Barbie loved to bake; her family will especially miss her delicious pies. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, holding babies, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers and observing ducks and swans. Above all, she cherished time with her family and friends.

Barbie passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 61 years, seven months and 21 days.

Barbie was preceded in death by her father, Carroll Gene Jenkins, Sr. and sister, Sheri Jenkins. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Millhouse of Omaha; children: Michelle Merritt of Dow City, Sarah Merritt of Council Bluffs, Sherry (Justin) McBride of Clay Center, Nebraska, Tara Wolford of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Kimberly Catlin of Omaha, Nebraska, Adam Jenkins (Brittany Hynes) of Des Moines, Roseanne Jenkins-Brown-Baker (Jerran Baker, Jr.) of Glenwood, and Jacob Brown of Treynor; mother, Violet Jenkins of Iowa City; 18 grandchildren; siblings: Carroll (Tina) Jenkins, Jr. of Wisconsin, Arlene Rogers of Iowa City, Diane Davidson of Iowa City, Otis Jenkins of Anamosa, and Constance Jenkins of Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.

Barbie’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will hold private burial at a later date.
