Beverly Hidding

Beverly “Bev” Jean Hidding was born on April 30, 1938, to Earl and Tena (Kannegieter) Chaplin in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School.

Following high school, Bev held various jobs before moving to Dow City in 1972. From 1972 until 1980, she stayed home to care for her family. She later returned to the workforce, working as a custodian at Dow City Schools for about a decade. She later worked as a cashier at Walmart until her retirement, continuing to work well into her seventies.

Bev enjoyed bowling with friends and participated in bowling leagues for many years. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and caring for her birds. She spent many hours canning produce from her garden. Bev loved watching her children participate in sports when they were younger and continued to enjoy watching all kinds of sports and westerns on television. She also liked collecting wolf decor and was known for being a thoughtful card giver, never missing an opportunity to send birthday cards to family and friends.

Bev cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was very important to her.

Beverly passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, having attained the age of 87 years, 10 months, and four days. In addition to her parents, Earl and Tena Chaplin, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Waderich; siblings, Dennis (Andrea) Chaplin and Marlene (Robert) Brandt.

She is survived by her children: Tammy (Steve) Langholdt, David (Cris) Hidding, and Becky (Ken) Willems, all of Denison; son-in-law Roger (Marsha) Waderich of Denison; grandchildren: Alison (Corey) Malone, Josh (Cindy Blumhardt) Langholdt, Trevor Langholdt, Jill (Jeff) Fahn, Jennifer (Matt) Blum, David (Stephanie) Malone, Jess Malone, Kelsey (Ben) Rasmussen, Kara Hidding, Rachel Willems, Kayla (Colin) Straight, Angela (Dylan) Jensen, and Amanda Willems; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Gorder of Alden; along with nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning one hour prior at 9:30 a.m., all at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. Inurnment will take place at Dow City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
