Beverly Nelson

Beverly Lavern Nelson was born January 12, 1943, the daughter of Carl and Adela Zage Holtman. She passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa, at the age of sixty-seven.
Beverly was born on a farm near Denison, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on March 21, 1943, and confirmed on April 14, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her education in the Denison Schools and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1961.
On July 27, 1969, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Nelson. The couple made their home in Denison and were blessed with the birth of three children. She lived in and worked at a variety of places including: Thriftys Grocery Store in Denison; lived in Omaha for a short time; then worked at Denison Seed; moved to Missouri Valley and back to Denison; owned and operated the Community Caf; worked as a nursing assistant in Manilla and Woodbine; cooked at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison; and worked for Huebner Furniture and Huebner auction.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her great joy. She liked baking, cooking and sewing. She was a faithful worker. She also enjoyed some spirited games at Sloan and Onawa. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Kenneth in 2005. Survivors include two sons: David and his wife, Michelle, and Delaine; and one daughter, Darla; six grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy and her husband, Delaine; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Richard Salcido and Rev. Adam Peck officiated the service and graveside rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison, Iowa. Organist Marlene Hight provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "Beautiful Savior," "Amazing Grace, How Sweet The Sound," and "Abide With Me." Serving as honorary pallbearers were Zachary Collins, Melissa Nelson, Jessica Nelson, Allyson Kruse, Tasha Nelson, and Zane Nelson. Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Huebner, Todd Grossman, Glenn Nissen, Earl Graham, Dean Nelson, and Glen Quandt. The family invited everyone to join them in fellowship and lunch at Cronks Restaurant. The Huebner Funeral Home of Denison was in charge of arrangements.
