Bob Hamilton

April 10, 1950 — December 28, 2025

Robert “Bob” Hamilton was born on April 10, 1950, in Denison, Iowa, to Clarence and Helen (Whiteing) Hamilton. He attended school in Denison and later earned his GED while serving in the United States Navy from June 25, 1968, until his honorable discharge on November 10, 1969.

Bob met Carmen Jurgens in November of 1969, and the two were united in marriage on March 20, 1970, in Elk Point, South Dakota. They were blessed with four daughters and made their home in Denison.

Bob began Hamilton Construction Company in the early 1970s before the family relocated to Colorado, where he continued working in construction. About three years later, they returned to Iowa. Over the years, Bob held many roles — he co-owned Iowa Texas Express, worked in maintenance at St. Rose, and later began working at Job Corps. While still employed at Job Corps, he purchased Hamilton Security, providing security services for countless community events including city picnics, beer gardens, and weddings.

After retirement, Bob happily stayed busy helping Carmen with construction projects around the house. He especially loved family time, taking trips to Okoboji, spending quality time with “his girls,” and cherishing the time he shared with his grandchildren.

Bob was deeply committed to helping others. He started the AA and Alateen meetings in the local community, believing strongly that recovery was about serving and supporting those around you. For many years, Bob lovingly cared for Carmen. He enjoyed woodworking and watching westerns — especially anything starring John Wayne.

Bob passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, after a battle with metastatic lung cancer, having attained the age of 75 years, eight months, and 18 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Hamilton; his wife, Carmen Hamilton; and his son-in-law, Rusty Siekfken.

Bob is survived by his four daughters, Christi (Brian) Scherber of Richmond, Minnesota; Melissa Siefken of Omaha, Nebraska; Kelly (Jaymie) Harper of Sioux Center, Iowa; and Pam (Jarad) Gronau of Urbandale, Iowa; along with 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Tom Hamilton of Denison, Larry Hamilton of Denison, Alex Hamilton of Jefferson, Iowa, Theresa (Henry) Wieck of Hampton, Iowa, and Mark (Shelley) Hamilton of Amarillo, Texas; his brother-in-law, Michael Jurgens of Clear Lake, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
