Brian D. Boland was born on May 21, 1959 to Walter and Jacqueline (Mitchell) Boland in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Holy Family Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He received his education at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs.
On July 4, 2003, Brian was united in marriage to Susan (Stewart) Johannsen on the #1 tee box at the Schleswig Community Golf Course. To this union, two special families joined together whom included: Brian Jr., Jessica, Jerrod, Jacob and Derek. They made their home in Schleswig.
He worked in the packing house industry around the Midwest and finished his career at Smithfield in Denison. He was a volunteer firefighter in Ricketts for many years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and boating at the lake. Brian was soft spoken, very honest and always was a fair man who put others before himself. He was a devoted husband, father, poppo, son and brother that loved his family more than anything.
Brian passed away peacefully, holding his wife's hand on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison attaining the age of sixty-two years, two months and twenty-four days. He was preceded in death by his father: Walter Boland; brother: David Boland; mother-in-law: DeLoris Stewart; brother-in-law: Frank Stewart.
Left to cherish his memories, his wife of 18 years: Susan Boland of Schleswig; children: Brian Boland Jr. and his fiancé Misty of Council Bluffs, Jessica and her husband Jon Reiter of Waterloo, Iowa, Jerrod Johannsen and his fiancé Talsha of Schleswig, Jacob Boland and significant other Shazette of Earlham, Iowa; Derek Johannsen and his significant other Sara of Charter Oak; grandchildren: Ty, Lily, Khloe, Elise, Grady, Colton, Brayton, Taryn, Nevaeh, Aydan, Prairie, Fox, Huntur and Reid; mother: Jacqueline Kohnekamp of Charter Oak; brother: Allan Boland of Omaha, Nebraska; sister: Julia and her husband Hoss Reddick of Charter Oak; sisters-in-law: Diane Stewart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kristine Stewart of Bloomington, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Interment is in Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Memorials may be directed to the family.
