Clara Marie Bohlmann

July 27, 1935 — April 15, 2023

Clara Marie Bohlmann was born on July 27, 1935 in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Henry A. C. and Jane (Anderson) Hansohn. She was baptized into Christ on August 11, 1935 and later confirmed her faith on April 10, 1949, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Clare received her education from Ida Grove School and graduated with the class of 1953.

On July 5, 1953, Clare was united in marriage to Orville Bohlmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Wanda Lynn, Kent Lane, and Blaine Lee. They made their home on a farm in rural Ricketts for three years until they moved to Denison.

Clare and Orville grew the company, Bohlmann Incorporated, that he founded in 1950. She always immersed herself into her work and Clare was a career woman before it had a label. She retired in 2016, at the age of 80. Clare had a strong faith in her Lord. Over the years, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison and then Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.

Clare was an avid reader, enjoyed doing yard work, and driving her unique automobiles. She also enjoyed bowling, ceramics, watching movies and loved popcorn, working on puzzles, and playing board games. Clare enjoyed traveling and loved spending time at their Florida and Lake View homes; walking the beach, shelling, and boating. She had a strong sense of humor, liked to tease, and was known for her many "Clare Quips", some include: "Don't borrow trouble", "You're a wisenheimer", "I feel like I've been drug through a keyhole", "Don't take any wooden nickels", "Pardon a pig", "It's a great life if you don't weaken", "You're full of prunes", "Ai Yi Yi Yi", "Dupa", "Hot rod Hannah", "Mama Mia", "Auch der Lieber", "You're all heart!", and "God Bless!" Above all, she cherished her family and loved making memories with them over the years.

Clare passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Denison at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 19 days. Clare was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Mark Johnson; three brothers: infant Jimmy Lane Hansohn, Charles Hansohn and Robert Hansohn and his wife, Carol; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Hansohn.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Orville Bohlmann; daughter, Wanda Bohlmann Johnson; two sons: Kent Bohlmann and Blaine Bohlmann and his wife Bonnie, all of Denison; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brother, Eugene Hansohn of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Maxine Hansohn of Bettendorf; lifelong friend, Mary Ann Grieb of Waukee; many other relatives and friends.
