Clarion Imogene Holdsworth

Clarion Imogene (Evers) Holdsworth was born on September 10th, 1933 to William and Sophia (Thomsen) Evers in Denison, IA. She attended and graduated from Denison High School. Following graduation, Clarion began working at Crandell Law Office as a paralegal and worked there until her retirement.

On December 16, 1951, Clarion married Melvin Holdsworth at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They lived on the Holdsworth family farm near Manilla where they raised their three children: Randall, Rhonda, and Diane.

Clarion and Melvin loved to travel. They went on several trips to Alaska, Branson, Okoboji, and countless other places either on a bus trip or cruise. Clarion loved to collect tea pots and sets, cookie jars, cookbooks, dolls, and many other unique items with Melvin. She enjoyed meeting her lady friends for coffee, playing cards with other couples, and spending time with family. She had a strong faith in the Lord and would always lean on him during difficult times.

Clarion passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the Gracewell Nursing Facility at the age of 89 years. She was preceded in death by parents: William and Sophia Evers; her husband of 69 years Melvin Holdsworth; children Randall Holdsworth, Diane Wiener, and Rhonda Slavik; siblings: Shirley Winquest, and Marilyn Evers; and many other family members.

She is survived by her sons-in-law: Doyle Slavik of Schleswig, IA and David Wiener of Logan, IA; grandchildren: Jessica and her husband Jordan Thistle of Mingo, IA, Elizabeth and her husband William Greer of Ames, IA, and James Wiener of Westphalia, IA; great-grandchildren: Ava Wiener and Brayden Greer; sister: Evelyn and her husband Robert Rank of Clarinda, IA; many other relatives and friends.

Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. Interment is in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
