Daniel Paul, son of Patrick and Diane (Thomsen) McCaffery, was born April 16, 1970, in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Mary's Church in Dow City and confirmed at St. Boniface in Charter Oak. He grew up in Charter Oak and graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School in 1988.
Daniel then entered the workforce. Throughout the years, he worked at Farmland and Millard Cold Storage, did maintenance for Quality Foods and drove truck for Krajicek and Bedrock. Daniel enjoyed traveling to Pennsylvania where he learned how to build log homes.
Daniel drove figure 8 cars, winning a few trophies. He enjoyed shooting guns, taking pictures, putting sticker graffiti on his vehicles, watching old westerns and Yellowstone, and reading anything about Alaska. Daniel was proud of his Irish heritage and "Had a brain full of useless information." He was proud to be a brother to his sister and an uncle to his nephews. Daniel loved to BS with anybody.
Daniel had many health issues after suffering a heart attack in 2019. On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Daniel passed away at Dunlap Specialty Care in Dunlap, Iowa, at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Daniel is survived by his parents Pat and Diane McCaffery of Denison; his sister Lisa (Roy) Burk of Denison; an uncle Charles Thomsen of Dow City; two nephews Dalton Burk and Austin Burk, both of Denison; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Daniel and Verna McCaffery & Paul and Arlene Thomsen.
The Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison.
Inurnment well be held at a later date.
