David Lee Janett

February 8, 1956 — August 15, 2021

David Lee Janett was born on February 8, 1956, to Robert and Virginia (Brown) Janett in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. David enjoyed working different jobs during his life, he especially enjoyed the time he spent working with animals.

David loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. Spending time at their cabin on the upper Mississippi and fishing local trout streams were special times for he and his family. He also cherished spending time with his daughter, Katelyn. They loved to take drives to the Loess Hills, different rural cemeteries but the Raccoon River was their favorite spot. Taking Ellie and Roscoe, his dogs, to the river was a weekly trip along with checking on the eagle's nest he and Katelyn had watched for many years. Dave cared for and respected wildlife and nature.

David passed away on August 15, 2021, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 65 years, six months and seven days.

David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter: Katelyn Janett of Denison; siblings: Kristin Janett of Omaha, Nebraska and James (Barbara) of Lansing; longtime best friend: Clark Meyer of Vail; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
