Charter Oak

David "Dave" Earl Meseck, son of Delaine Meseck and Erma (Samuelson) Meseck Wingrove, was born on April 9th, 1955 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in Christ at the United Methodist Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm outside of Charter Oak, and received his education in the Charter Oak Ute Community schools.

Following the tragic loss of his father, Dave began farming. When he was 16, he fired up his 62 Chevy Bel Air and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked as a janitor for General Electric. A short time later, he returned home to Iowa where he had various jobs: working at Farmland, the Denison Block Plant, helping put up MFS grain bins for Kragel Incorporated, asphalting for Dean Launderville, and at Bohlmanns where he poured concrete to make livestock waterers, mailboxes, benches, flower planters, and more.

In 1980, Dave married Becky Carlson. They moved to Washington state. There he worked for Denny's restaurant, helped on the flight deck of the USS Enterprise, and poured concrete at Utility Vault. Together, he and Becky raised 5 beautiful children: Jackie, Keith, Joe, Angel, and Josh. They later divorced, and in 1993, Dave and three kids: Joe, Angel, and Josh; moved home to Charter Oak, Iowa, where Dave spent the remainder of his days, and he got his old job back at Bohlmanns where he worked until he was no longer able to do so. On May 9th, 2025, Dave passed away at CHI Immanuel Hospital, in Omaha, NE, with family by his side, and listening to his tunes.

Dave loved to have fun. He loved music and going to concerts. He believed if you couldn't feel the music, you're either not playing it loud enough, or you weren't paying attention. He spent a lot of his time outdoors: cruising around in his 68 firebird, his 74 Z 28 Camaro, his 66 Pontiac Tempest, and his 77 Pontiac Grand Prix; to name a few, as well as his motorcycles: his Yamaha 250, his 74 Kawasaki, and his Honda CB 350 which he would ride on his homemade dirt track he called "The Hundred and Twenty". He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to Mt. Rainier, being by the water, and always had to have his ice cream before bed. He could watch westerns for hours, loved a good party, and lived to laugh and make others laugh; always having jokes to tell and pranks to pull. What brought Dave the most joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, brothers, and close friends. He also really loved the Lord, and kept his loved ones in his daily prayers.

He was proceeded in death by his father Delaine Meseck, mother Erma (Samuelson) Meseck Wingrove, step dad Jay Wingrove, son Keith Meseck, brother Jerry Meseck, sister in law Jenell Meseck, nephew in infancy Jeremy Meseck, and sister in law Barb Meseck, as well as other family and friends.

He is survived by four children: Jacquelin Lehto of Auburn, WA, Joseph Meseck of Puyallup, Wa, Angel (Luke) Bohm of Charter Oak, IA, and Joshua Meseck of Auburn, WA; nine grandchildren: Kaitlyn Lehto, Kyra Lehto, Delainey Lehto, Hannah Bohm, Kylie Bohm, Greyson Bohm, Keith Meseck, Jonathan Meseck, and Malachai Meseck; great-granddaughter: Millicent "Millie" Dixon; brothers Byron Meseck of Ricketts, IA, and James Meseck of Charter Oak, IA; Aunt Lorie Bumann of Schleswig, IA, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
