David Lee Moen was born on October 30, 1965, in Denison, Iowa, to Ole and Ruth (Jensen) Moen. He attended and graduated from Denison High School.
He spent his entire working life at Wesco, serving in various roles over the years. A man of deep faith, David was one of the most active and faithful members of the United Presbyterian Church in Denison and took great pride in serving as a deacon. He faithfully attended deacon meetings and valued his service to others.
Along with his mother, he was very active in the Denison community, making it a point to attend nearly every open house for new businesses in town. He especially treasured the time they spent traveling together, visiting places such as Alaska, Branson, Missouri, and both North and South Dakota, and he also enjoyed attending the monthly Arts Council concerts.
Known for his joyful spirit and love of life’s simple pleasures, David delighted in parades, especially the fire trucks, and enjoyed passing out candy during parades and at Halloween at Gracewell. He liked watching the Food Network and WWE wrestling. He had a large collection of Guinness Book of World Records books, gifted by his niece Amy, and collected elephants. Trivia was a favorite pastime, and he truly enjoyed talking with others about it. David lived an amazing and full life.
David passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Gracewell in Denison at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Ruth, as well as his sister Kay. He is survived by his niece, Amy; nephew, Jay; cousin, Missy; and his beloved Great Dane, Bella.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Gracewell and Crawford County Hospice for their excellent care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
