Delaine Listamann

November 5, 1934 — October 10, 2025

Denison

Delaine Listamann, son of Henry and Lillian (Meggers) Listamann, was born on November 5, 1934, on a farm in Hanover Township. He was baptized in Christ on February 28, 1935, and confirmed on March 22, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He attended a rural school near his home.

From 1957 to 1959, Delaine served in the United States Army, during which time he and his twin brother, Donald, were stationed together in Nuremberg, Germany. After returning home, Delaine settled in the Denison area, where he began farming.

On September 11, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Holtman at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They were blessed with one daughter, Debra. Together, Delaine and Dorothy farmed and raised livestock, including Hereford cattle.

Delaine took great pride in his work and had a passion for restoring John Deere tractors and farm implements. He enjoyed attending antique tractor and threshing shows, as well as farm and machinery sales. Delaine and Dorothy were rarely apart—they did everything together and shared a lifetime of hard work and companionship.

He was known for his contagious laugh that could be picked out of any crowd and for the ever-present smile on his face. He also enjoyed the company of Debra’s dog, Daisy, who brought him much joy.

Delaine passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Gracewell Nursing Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 5 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillian Listamann; brothers, Walter (Cheryl) Listamann, Erwin Listamann, and his twin brother, Donald Listamann; a brother in infancy; and sister, Lorna (Gilbert) Moeller.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Listamann of Denison; daughter, Debra (Todd) Grossman of Carroll; grandson, Justin Grossman of Carroll; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

Private family services were held. Burial was held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison.
