Delores Schultz

Delores Mae Schultz was born on May 11, 1934, in Denison, Iowa, to Edgar and Frieda (Clausen) Else. She was baptized at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. She attended country school near her family home and graduated from Schleswig High School with the Class of 1952.

Following high school, Delores worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers Lumber and Grain Company. On May 8, 1955, she was united in marriage to Milford Schultz at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. They were blessed with three children, Sherry, Bradley, and Sheila. The couple eventually settled on a farm outside of Schleswig, where Delores helped Milford with the farm. She cared for the chickens and gathered the eggs every day. She also enjoyed tending to her large strawberry patch and was known for making wonderful strawberry jelly.

Delores was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member for more than 70 years. She was involved with the Ladies Aid and was always willing to volunteer and help wherever she was needed.

Delores was a sweet, laid-back, and easygoing woman who was happiest in the simple routines of everyday life. She took pride in keeping things organized, and her bookkeeping and organizational skills were unmatched. Whether she was caring for her chickens, tending her strawberry patch, volunteering in her community, or cheering on her grandchildren, Delores gave her time and attention to the things and people she cared about.

She especially enjoyed spending time with family and watching her grandchildren grow up and participate in sports. Her love of reading, cards, puzzles, sports, and quiet time at home reflected her easygoing nature. Delores will be remembered for her kind heart, steady presence, and the simple, meaningful ways she brought joy to those around her.

In 2005, Delores moved to Real Life Senior Independent Living in Denison, where she enjoyed the next chapter of her life while remaining close to family and friends.

Delores passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, having attained the age of 92 years, four months, and eight days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milford, and her son, Bradley.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Phil) Hornung of Springfield, Oregon, and Sheila Schultz of Independence, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Judy Schultz of Schleswig; five grandchildren, Kyle (Megan) Schultz, Amanda (David) Jonas, Kellen (Anna) Schultz, Kimberly (Nate) Field, and Tanner (Sarah) Schultz; nine great-grandchildren, Elijah, Isaac, Jordan, Nolan, Landry, Ella, Penelope, Harper, and Carter; as well as other relatives and friends.

Visitation with family greeting friends will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026, also at the church. Burial will follow at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.
