Donald Hollander

Donald Lee Hollander was born on May 24, 1950, in Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Albert and Clara (Petersen) Hollander. He graduated from Denison High School and, following his education, began a career in the garbage truck industry. Donald dedicated 42 years to his work before retiring.

In his free time, Donald enjoyed fishing and was an avid football fan, especially cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. He also liked watching wrestling and listening to country music. Donald was known for his friendly nature and love of visiting with others, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and made friends wherever he went.

Donald passed away at home on February 7, 2026, at the age of 75 years, eight months and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters: Darlene, Carol, Alice, Ruby and Jolene; three brothers, Leroy, Arnold and Jeff. He is survived by his brother, Ted Hollander of Denison; three sisters: Lois Hicks, Elsie Ladehoff and Karen Anderson all of Denison; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Donald’s wishes were to be cremated and his family will be holding his Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 21, 2026, starting at 1:30 p.m. at Just One More Bar in Denison.
