It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Tech, a beloved mother, partner, sister, aunt, and friend. Dorothy was surrounded by loved ones during her end of life journey with stage 4 lung cancer which ended on July 6, 2026.
Born on August 5, 1958, Dorothy’s story began in the towns of Council Bluffs and Dow City, where she spent her early years and graduated from Dow City-Arion community schools in 1976.
In her career, Dorothy was dependable, organized, and worked closely with people. She received an associates degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College in secretarial duties. Throughout the years she worked as a receptionist at Broadway Dental, served as a training manager for McDonald's, was a sales associate at Schwesers, and later worked again as a receptionist at the law office of George Blazek. In all of these roles she took immense pride in helping others.
She truly was the life of the party and never met a stranger. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, and her laughter was contagious. Whether she was telling stories, playing dice, or simply enjoying good company, she had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and bring joy to every gathering. She shared many happy years with her beloved partner, Oz, creating countless cherished memories together.
She found joy in sewing, attending concerts, gardening, and caring for her many plants. Above all, she loved to be social and treasured the time she spent with the people she loved. Her vibrant spirit, generous heart, and infectious sense of humor will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
