Ed Fredricks

Edwin “Ed” Henry Fredricks was born on November 18, 1941, the son of Edward and Elisie (Kitlica) Fredricks in Berwyn, Illinois. His mother passed away when Ed was only three years old. A few years later, his father married Martha Slocum, and the family relocated to Westmont, Illinois. Ed graduated from Downers Grove High School with the class of 1959 and later attended College of Dupage.

On October 24, 1964, Ed was united in marriage with Barbara Mohler of Lyons, Illinois. The couple first made their home in an apartment in Westmont before moving to Lyons for several years. They later returned to Westmont to help care for Ed’s father. Following his father’s passing, Ed and Barb moved to a townhome in Woodridge. Ed dedicated 38 years to working as a mail carrier in the Westmont area. After his retirement, the couple relocated to Denison, Iowa.

Ed loved golfing and was very good at it. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Go Cubs!

Ed passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Gracewell in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 84 years, five months, and 22 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepbrother, Frank; and siblings-in-law: Dave Mohler and Paul and Denise Mohler.

He is survived by his wife, Barb Fredricks of Denison.
