Helen Hinze

November 18, 1921 — December 5, 2010

Helen Erna Hinze was born November 18, 1921, the daughter of William and Lillian Ruberg Walde. She died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine.
She attended Denison High School and later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she attended beauty school. While at beauty school she met the love of her life, Kenneth Hinze and on September 17, 1944, they were united in marriage. The couple made their home on a farm near Gresham, Nebraska, until March of 1946 when they moved to a farm near Manning, Iowa. Later they moved to a farm near Denison. In February 1952 they moved to Denver, Colorado. While in Denver she worked at the telephone company. After retiring in 1975 they moved to Sidney, Nebraska. Finally, in 1984 the couple returned to Denison, Iowa, where they have since lived.
Helens outgoing personality had an effect on everything she did and everyone she met. Her bright smile and infectious laugh brought a smile to your face. She loved to sew, socialize, and enjoyed her 9 A.M. Sunday morning coffee with the "Silver Forum." Other talents included being a self-taught computer technologist, genealogist and matriarch of the family. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the Lamplighters.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth. Survivors include three brothers: Raymond Walde (Clara) of Denison; Edward Walde (JoAnn) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Leonard Walde (Shirley) of Westside, Iowa; six sisters: Ruby Jahn (Paul) of Denison; Wilma Walde of Denison; Lillian Fastenau (Arden) of Denver, Colorado; Gladys Hagny (Phil) of Gettysburg, South Dakota; Marilyn Yoakum (Max) of Russell, Iowa; and Marlene Brudenell of Tallahassee, Florida; two sisters_in_law: Leona Walde of Manilla, Iowa; and Vi Walde of Denison; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
