James "Jim" A. Christensen

James "Jim" Allan Christensen was born September 9, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Rev. Grenville and Edna (Segerhammar) Christensen. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, IA. He was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg, NE by his father. He received his education in Stromsburg, NE and graduated with the Class of 1966. After graduation, Jim attended York Jr College and Midland Lutheran College and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

On June 16, 1973, Jim was united in marriage to Linda Leu at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg, Nebraska. To this union, they were blessed with two children: Brian and Becky. The family made their home in Denison, IA.

Jim started his accounting career at Wayne Woodbury & J.C. Miller CPA in 1972 in Denison, IA. He continued his CPA work at Johnson, Christensen, and Co until 1996, when he became the CFO at Professional Computer Systems, Inc. He retired in 2014.

Jim's hobbies included keeping up with technology. He was particularly interested in personal computers and enjoyed when preparing taxes became computerized. After retirement, he enjoyed his various tablets, phones, watches, and computers. He enjoyed listening to music and taught himself how to play piano. He enjoyed fishing , photography, and reading. His favorite vacation destination was Colorado. He enjoyed trips as a young kid with his family and cousins, as well as later in life, until his health prevented trips after 2019. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lions Club, Denison Community Chest in the early years, and was Treasurer for Iowa District West Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for 17 years.

Jim passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Christensen; and brother, Stanley Christensen.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Linda Christensen of Denison; son, Brian Christensen and his wife Kathryn of Denison; daughter, Becky and her husband Mitch Carlyle of Adel; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Violet, and Jasper Christensen, Maya and Harrison Carlyle; sisters: Joan and her husband Marvin Lundstedt of Fontenelle and Janice Christensen of Denison; mother-in-law, Pearl Holbrook of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Lynn Christensen of Boulder, Colorado, Vickie Leu of Fremont, Nebraska, and Peggy and her husband Howard Speck of Omaha, Nebraska; and brother-in-law, Robert Leu and his wife Stacy of Fremont, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 1pm to 2pm on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. Memorials may be directed to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
