Jerome “Jerry” Victor Lemon Jr. was born on October 2, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Jerome Sr. and Joleen (Aldag) Lemon. He attended school in Palmer, Nebraska, and was a graduate of Palmer High School.
Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge. Following his service, he moved to Iowa where he worked in hog production. He later opened Jerry’s Body Shop in Kiron, which he continued after relocating to Anita. In addition, Jerry enjoyed making and selling small trailers. He eventually began bricklaying in Blair, Nebraska, and later returned to Kiron, where he continued in the trade until his retirement.
Jerry had a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. He especially enjoyed cutting wood, family bonfires, barbecues, and gatherings with loved ones-often while enjoying a drink. In his earlier years, he liked playing cards. He especially enjoyed watching westerns and cop shows and visiting about the actors on screen. Known for his humorous nature, Jerry brought laughter wherever he went.
As his health declined, Jerry became a resident of Willow Dale Nursing Home, where he formed many meaningful friendships. Jerry passed away on January 6, 2026, at Willow Dale Nursing Home in Battle Creek, Iowa, having attained the age of 71 years, three months, and four days.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Lemon Sr.; his brother, Kenny Lemon; and his sister, Laurie Lemon.
He is survived by his mother, Joleen Lemon of Battle Creek; sisters, Mary Morgan and Julie Hoefling, both of Odebolt; and son, Jake Lechner of Kansas.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., all at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Inurnment with military honors will take place at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kiron.
