John Keairnes

John Collins Keairnes was born September 9, 1943, the son of Loren and Jane Collins Keairnes. He died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-seven.
John was born in Denison. He graduated from Ar-We-Va High School in Westside, Iowa, with the class of 1962. On June 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to Joan Hast in Wall Lake, Iowa. She passed away May 3, 1982. He then married Aldean Kraemer on June 17, 1983, at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dow City, Iowa. He farmed with his father, worked for Crawford County, and then at Farmland and IBP in Denison. After 25 years at IBP, he retired in the late 80s.
In his younger years he was an avid 4-Her and loved to show calves. Outdoor activities he enjoyed included fishing and hunting. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their sporting events were important to him. He had a knack for getting them to sleep at bedtime. He loved socializing and playing cards with family and friends, especially at Ettlemans Country Store. He was forthright about many things, but his friends knew him to be a practical joker. He was always available to give friends rides when they needed it. He enjoyed working and playing Bingo with the people at WESCO. Wrestling and Wheel of Fortune were TV programs he enjoyed watching. Scratch tickets were another favorite activity. He really loved his family dogs Holly, Bear, and Pree.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Joan. Survivors include his wife, Aldean Keairnes; six children: Michael; Jeffery; Elizabeth and her husband, Paul; Crystal and her husband; Donavan; and Robert and his wife, Darcie; grandchildren: Katilyn, Kendra, Kyle, Samuel, Spencer, Tony, Tyler, Preston, Christopher, Travis, Justin, Jason, David Kafer, Hailey, Chloe, and Damion; three sisters: Lynda; Judy and her husband Verlin; Jean and her husband, John; one brother, Joel and his wife LouAnn; other relatives and friends.
