Jon Regan Houston

Jon Regan Houston was born on November 6, 1964 to Thomas and Jeanette (Justice) Houston in Denison, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Dow City with his three brothers and three sisters. He received his education from Dow City-Arion High School and graduated with the class of 1983. He then went on to Iowa Central Community College where he received an Associates of Arts degree.

Jon married Gina Munson in 1985 and they were blessed with two children, Nathan and Emily. The couple later divorced. Jon spent most of his career as an over-the-road truck driver. Jon truly enjoyed being able to visit sites and parks all over the country. In his most recent years, he worked at Continental Carbonic. Jon had a fierce love for painting and being artistic. He spent most of his free time creating pictures using watercolors and oils.

Jon passed away unexpectedly at his home in Dow City on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the age of 58 years, four months and one day.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Nathan (Abby) Houston of Denison; daughter, Emily (Nick) Fink of Deloit; five grandchildren: Addison, Elly, Macy, Raymond and Jaxon; six siblings: Tom (Vicki) Houston of Arkansas, Carmen (Don) Clark of Florida, Norman (Maria) Houston of South Dakota, Lori Beam of Florida, Michael (Traci) Houston of Denison and Alison (Doug) Dorhout of Denison; many nieces and nephews; uncles: Roger Justice of Arkansas, Wayne (Arlene) Justice of Manning, Keith Justice of Minden and Ken (Rita) Houston of Florida; aunts: Joann Bengford of Defiance and Jolene (Bud) Bandow of Minden and Barb Houston of Washington; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. A private memorial service with the family will follow. Inurnment will be held at the Dow City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
