Joyce Cecelia (Neubaum) O’Meara was born on August 30, 1938, the daughter of Marvin and Eleanora (Miller) Neubaum, in Schleswig, Iowa. Following her graduation from Schleswig High School, she attended Business College in Omaha, Nebraska.

Joyce began her career at First National Bank in Denison. On April 5, 1959, she married the love of her life, Adrian O’Meara. They made their first home in Ames while Adrian completed his college degree before relocating to Seattle, Washington, where they were both employed by The Boeing Company. They called Seattle home for nearly 30 years before beginning a new adventure in Maui, Hawaii, where they lived for 12 wonderful years. They later settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in 2022, Joyce and Adrian returned to Iowa, making their home in Waukee to be closer to family.

Joyce and Adrian truly lived life to the fullest. Bigger than life and always ready for their next adventure, they embraced every opportunity to travel, experience new places, and create lasting memories together. One of Joyce's most treasured memories was being in England when Princess Diana passed away. They were able to pay their respects by placing flowers at her memorial, an experience she held close to her heart for the rest of her life.

Joyce had a gift for making people feel welcome. She was an exceptional cook who loved entertaining, and together she and Adrian became known for opening their home to family and friends. Whether they were hosting gatherings or inviting everyone over for their famous happy hours in Hawaii, they were often the life of the party, filling every occasion with laughter, stories, and unforgettable hospitality. Her infectious laughter brought joy to every room and made every heart smile. While living in Maui, they cherished evenings spent watching the breathtaking sunsets over the ocean. Later, in Las Vegas, they never tired of looking out their windows each day to admire the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

In addition to traveling and entertaining, Joyce found joy in gardening, golfing, and spending time with her family and many dear friends. No matter where life took her, Joyce's warm heart, adventurous spirit, and love for bringing people together left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her joyful spirit and unforgettable laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her many friends at Independence Village, where she brought smiles and happiness to those around her.

Joyce passed peacefully from this earth on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Harmony West LTC in West Des Moines at the age of 87 years, ten months and four days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adrian O’Meara; sister, Phyllis Bielfeldt; mother-in-law, Ruby Coburn Thompson; sisters-in-law: Ruth O’Meara, Mary Jane King and Shirley Petersen; and brothers-in-law: Vernon Stockfleth, Glen Bielfeldt, Maurice “Herb” O’Meara, and Jerry Thompson.

She is survived by her sister, Marian Stockfleth of Sioux City; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends, especially the Seattle Gourmet Group.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with her funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Interment will be held in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Memorials may be directed to Tunnel 4 Towers to provide housing for Wounded Veterans.
