Kenneth Carl Neumann

Kenneth Carl Neumann was born on May 28, 1939, the son of Carl and Bertha (Thies) Neumann on the family farm He attended Zion Lutheran School and cherished the memories of helping his father on the farm. He later enlisted in the Army, showing his commitment to serving his country.

On November 6, 1965, Ken was married to Betty Olney and from this union, one daughter, Kimberly was born. The couple later divorced. In his professional life, Kenneth dedicated many years to working at the IBP plant in Denison and farming before relocating to Seattle, Washington, where he worked at Exxon Mobil Gas Station. His strong work ethic and passion for agriculture were evident in all that he did.

He returned to the Crawford County area and on February 27, 1999, he was married to Joyce Thiedeman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together, they took many trips to Branson and they’d often watch the entertaining acts. Ken’s favorites were the Oak Ridge Boys and Charley Pride. Ken also attended Sturgis where he liked seeing all the bikes; while his Harley stayed home in the garage. He always enjoyed the Sunday afternoon rides on his Harley, admiring nature's beauty through bird-watching in the back yard, and tending to his garden where he took care of his many flowers and roses.

Ken was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in May of 2022 and passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home in Denison, at the age of 84.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bertha Neumann; brothers: Fred Neumann and Bill Neumann; and brothers-in-law: Wayne Schroeder and Jim Frederick Sr. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Neumann of Denison; brother, Dale (Maureen) Neumann of Denison; sisters: Carolyn Schroeder of Ida Grove, Kathy Wilwerding of Harlan, Coleen Fredericks of Arthur, Karlen (Russell) Watson of Dow City, Maxine (Steve) Winey of Deloit; and sisters-in-law: Rodonna Neumann of Arcadia and Beth Neumann of Denison; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place of 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. with his funeral beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial with Military Honors will be in Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Memorials may be directed to the family.
