Kenneth R. Ransom, more affectionately known as Kenny, was born on September 7, 1949, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Beulah (Frazier) Ransom. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools.
On March 26, 1983, Kenny was united in marriage to Kathy Jo Detlefsen at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. He was blessed with two children and made their home near Dow City. Kenny worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator with Godbersen-Smith Construction out of Ida Grove, helping build roads and dams. He also worked for the Crawford County Roads Department, where he drove snowplows and maintained gravel roads.
Kenny enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, trapping, and fishing. He had a special love for animals and always had a pet. Above all, he treasured time with his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in watching them grow and cheering them on in all they did.
