Kevin Donald Laubscher was born on October 19, 1957, the son of Donald A. and Emma H. (Schmeling) Laubscher in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Kevin completed his education at Dow City High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. He began working at the Dubuque packing plant and with its closing he furthered his education at Iowa Western Community College in Boone, where he earned his associate degree as a Registered Nurse.
On November 11, 1978, Kevin was united in marriage to Theresa Lane at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. They were blessed with two sons, Kyle and Keith. Over the years, the family made their home in Dow City, then Oakland, before settling in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Kevin dedicated his career to nursing, serving in several specialized departments including infectious disease, pulmonary care, and cardiac step-down. He concluded his career with his retirement in 2019, from Liberty Hospital in Missouri.
Kevin had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, he loved fishing, hunting for morel mushrooms, gardening, and tending to his yard. He found peace in the simple joy of star gazing. A gifted woodworker, Kevin also enjoyed tinkering with vehicles and had a knack for fixing just about anything. He also had a strong sixth sense and intuition in all facets of life. He and Theresa shared a love of travel visiting National Parks, State Parks and the mountains. More than anything, Kevin treasured his roles as a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandpa.
