Kevin Wayne Musland was born on December 8, 1960, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Loren and Sharon (McConnell) Peters. He graduated from Schleswig High School before enlisting in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Alaska. During this time, he proudly went on a bear hunt which was an experience he enjoyed. Kevin received his honorable discharge on September 18, 1983.

Kevin was united in marriage with Paula Daniel in 1984, and they were blessed with three children: Jeremy, Melissa, and Shelby. The family made their home in Carroll for ten years before moving to a farm near Schleswig. The couple later parted ways.

Throughout his life, Kevin worked in a variety of trucking and construction-related positions. He worked alongside his father at Mau Trucking in Ida Grove, hauled concrete forms for EFCO Trucking, and served as a government contractor for Halliburton in Iraq, transporting fuel between military bases. He also helped haul structural buildings throughout the United States, worked in the Oklahoma oil fields, and later drove truck for road construction.

In 2006, Kevin married Terrie Moritz and they made their home in Canadian, Oklahoma, until relocating to Iowa in 2020.

While living in Oklahoma, Kevin became a member of a veterans' motorcycle club, serving as vice president of his chapter. It was there he earned the nickname "Scab" after a fall that his fellow members never let him forget. Kevin loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, riding his motorcycle, camping, and many other outdoor adventures.

Above all, Kevin treasured time with his family and loved making memories with his grandchildren. He had a loyal heart, and once he considered you a friend, you became part of his family.

Kevin passed away at home on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the age of 65 years, six months and 19 days. He was preceded in death by his dad, Loren Peters; close friends, Larry Polzin and Glen “Mudslide” Thomas.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Terrie Musland of Arizona; children: Jeremy (Miranda) Musland of Denison, Melissa Weeks of Glenwood and Shelby (Cade) Johnson of Shenandoah; mom, Sharon Peters of Schleswig; grandchildren: Raelyn Johnston, Nik Johnston, Kyleigh Johnston, Libbie Johnston, Klayton Weeks, Olivia, Weeks, Marie Carter and LouErin Judith Johnson; brothers: Kurt Musland, Mark (Gail) Peters of Lidderdale and Michele (Brad) Christiansen of Ida Grove; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and many friends.

Private time with family will be held at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. Memorials may be directed to the family.
