Lois LuAnne Kruse was born April 24, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Anita Hecht. She passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of eighty-three.
Lois grew up on the farm near Schleswig and received her education at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Hanover Township and graduated from Schleswig High School with the Class of 1952. After high school, she was employed by Farmers State Bank in Schleswig.
She was united in marriage to Charles Kruse April 24, 1955, at the Friedens Evangelical Reformed Church in Schleswig. They lived on the family farm from 1957 to 1970, where they milked 100 cows and raised 1000 hogs, subsequently moving to a farm near Vail until 1973. After moving to Denison, she and her husband, owned and operated the Denison Motel until 1975, they then moved to a farm west of Denison. In 1980 they moved back to Denison and she subsequently was employed by American Home Shield in Carroll.
Lois enjoyed playing cards, vegetable and flower gardening, listening to polka music, square dancing, reading, watching professional rodeos, country westerns and other films. She especially loved watching The Lone Ranger and Maverick. Canning and cooking were also favorites and she had a special recipe for sweet rolls that was handed down for generations and is being passed on. She also enjoyed going fishing in Minnesota, especially with the grandchildren, going to Branson and driving around the countryside also brought her great pleasure. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family especially the holidays.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anita; her husband, Charles; daughter-in-law, Vicki; brother-in-law, Arnold; and sister-in-law, Beverly. Survivors include three daughters and one son, Darlis and her husband, Bernard; Dean; Rhonda; and Lisa and her husband, Richard; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren on the way; sister, Florence; brother-in-law, Gene; and many other relatives and friends.
