Margie Ann Jurgens was born July 1, 1931, at rural Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Clayton and Dorothy Rubendall. She passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five.
Margie received her education in the Sac City schools and was a 1948 graduate of Sac City High School. After graduation, she was employed at various restaurants and five and dime stores. On January 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to Oskar Jurgens at the Lutheran church in Sac City. She loved working on the farm with Oskar and was blessed to raise three children.
Margie had a passion for life and loved her animals, being especially fond of her pigs. She was an avid collector of dolls and enjoyed restoring them. She enjoyed cooking, preparing meals for the field crews, as well as preparing all the holiday meals and baking Christmas cookies with her grandchildren. She loved socializing with her friends and neighbors and spending time with her family. She was full of life and enjoyed polka and country western music, TV soaps, shopping, fishing at Clark’s pond, catching frogs and digging for nightcrawlers with her grandchilren.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rose Mary; one brother, Eugene; and one sister, Nancy. Survivors include: her husband, Oskar; one daughter, Carmen and her husband, Bob; and one son, Mike; seven grandchildren: Christi, Melissa, Kelly, Pam, Stephanie, Sheila and Timothy; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters: Delores; Donna and Dorothy and her husband, Richard; one brother, Kenneth and his wife, Laura ; other relatives and friends.
