Mary Ellen Dixon was born October 2, 1926 at rural Manning, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Lena Wulf. Mary passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa at the age of ninety-one.
Mary received her education in the schools near her home and graduated from Westside High School with the Class of 1945. Mary and Melvin were united in marriage on September 19, 1945, at the United Church of Christ in Westside. Together they made their home on the farm north of Westside. Traveling and dancing with her husband at the Five Mile House and the Arcadia Legion Hall were pleasurable activities for her. Mary enjoyed music and some of her favorites included Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Lawrence Welk, Big Band, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, and Andy Williams. Mary loved watching PBS, Lawrence Welk, Blue Bloods, David Letterman, and Stephen Colbert.
