Peggy Sue, daughter of Walt and Eula (Brewer) Wimer, was born July 27, 1952, near Onawa, Iowa. She grew up on a farm outside of Ute and graduated from Ute High School where she excelled in basketball.

In 1971, Peggy was united in marriage with Gale Steinbach. Three children were born to this union. The family made their home at Castana, Battle Creek and then Ute. Peggy and Gale later divorced.

In 1995, Peggy was blessed with a second marriage, this time with John Wendt. Peggy and John made their home in Denison. Peggy enjoyed working as a cook at Eventide Nursing Home and Pronto. She also worked at Walmart in the bakery, then fabric and finally with the fitting room.

Throughout the years, Peggy loved to crochet, quilt, sew, go bowling, play cards and darts. A favorite pastime of Peggy’s was watching television – especially soap operas, and reality crime and medical shows. Peggy was a loving grandma.

After Peggy broke her leg in September of 2023, she experienced a decline in health and passed away on November 7, 2023, at Dunlap Specialty Care in Dunlap at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Peggy is survived by her husband John of Denison; three children: April (Kelly) King of Carroll; Mark (Jadi) Steinbach of Boone; and Jessica (James) Briggs of Arcadia; two stepchildren: Chad (Jackie) Brokaw of Anamosa and Nathaniel Wendt of Colorado; her grandchildren: Sara, Brandon, Kelsey, Ryan, Brandon, Brittney, Katie, Kelsey, Brantley, Abbie, Emma; her great-grandchildren: Fantasi, Altair, Avery, Aubrey, Cleopatra and Greyson; a sister-in-law Yolanda Wimer of Oregon; three brothers-in-law: Robert (Debbie) Wendt of Charter Oak; Tom Wendt of Arion; and Lee Wendt of Florida; She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Mike (Donita) Wimer and Larry Wimer; a granddaughter Hope Steinbach; and a daughter-in-law Shannon Steinbach; brothers-in-law Michael Wendt and David Wendt; and sisters-in-law Linda Wendt and Debbie Quelen.

Per Peggy's wishes, no public services will be held.
