Richard Allen Frank was born August 21, 1932 in Denison, Iowa, the son of Lewis and Emma (Cassebarth) Frank. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He received his education from the  Charter Oak Community School graduated with the Class of 1950.

With dedication and honor, Richard was inducted into the United States Army on October 7, 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska where he remained a member until his honorable discharge on August 31, 1959 at Fort Lewis, Washington. When he returned from the service, Richard started working at an automotive parts company and then he was employed with City Auto Parts until he retired in 1993. After retirement, he worked at Coleman Motors for a few more years.

On February 14, 1961, Richard married the love of his life, Hilda Christensen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Their union embodied love, devotion, and unwavering support through the years they shared together. For many years, they enjoyed traveling with the Crawford County Bank, embracing new experiences. Richard and Hilda also made many memories baking and sharing cookies.

He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many joyful hours working in his yard. He also had a remarkable talent for golfing and woodworking. His kindness and compassionate nature were evident in his willingness to always lend a helping hand to others.

A man of strong values and a dedicated community member, Richard was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where he served as an usher and belonged to the Men's Club for numerous years. He was also a proud member of the Denison American Legion Post No. 8 and Denison V.F.W. 2504. He was the past commander and current sergeant of arms. Dick and Kenny Davis folded the American Flags for many years and Dick drove the Veteran Affairs van for 17 years.

Early October of this year, Richard and Hilda moved into Gracewell-Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, where Richard passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, attaining the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Emma Frank; brother, Virgil Frank and his wife Lois; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rudolph and Caroline Christensen; and sister-in-law, Alice Christensen.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Hilda Frank of Denison; close family friend, Louise Galbraith of Denison; nephew, Kevin Frank and his wife Leigh of Danbury; niece: Lynelle and her husband Rodney Hodgson and their son, Roy Hodgson and his wife, Mindy and their daughters, Addyson and Brooklyn Hodgson all of LeMars; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with Family Greeting Friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Richard’s Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church Renovation Fund.
