Robert “Bob” Van Jensen was born on October 23, 1942, in Carroll, Iowa, to Robert and Elma (VanDusen) Jensen. He spent his early years in Denison before moving to California, where he graduated with the Class of 1961 from Garden Grove High School. Bob attended California State University in Fullerton, California.
On August 5, 1967, he married Connie Kennedy in Garden Grove, California. In 1971, Bob and Connie made the important decision to leave California and return to Iowa—a move that reflected Bob’s strong desire to raise their family in a close-knit, rural community surrounded by the values he cherished.
Bob had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and traveling, and loved sharing those experiences with others. He held many roles and was very active in 4-H, where he found great purpose in mentoring and supporting youth. More than anything, Bob loved spending time with his family—they were the center of his world. He worked at Farmland Foods for more than 30 years, retiring in 2008.
Bob passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital having attained the age of 82 years, seven months and five days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elma (VanDusen) Jensen.
Bob is survived by his wife, Connie Jensen of Denison; three children: Tammi Nervig of Eagle, NE, Dwane (Chotikarn) Jensen of San Francisco CA, and Candice (Tony) Trejo of Denison; six grandchildren: Amber (Justin) Walter, Beau Sorensen, Kirstin (David) Delillis, Halie (Randy) Else, Abigail Trejo, and Anthony Trejo; five great-grandchildren: Malia, Jakin, Luca, River, and Owen; sister, Janice (George) Hight; brother, Richard Douglas Jensen; other relatives and friends.
