Roger Walde

Roger Lee Walde was born on September 18, 1942, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Walter and Leona (Boyens) Walde. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. Carl Schmidt. Roger attended a country school through the eighth grade before graduating from Manilla High School with the Class of 1960.

On January 15, 1961, Roger was united in marriage to Carol Voss at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, with Rev. Carl Schmidt officiating. Their union was blessed with four children. In 1966, Roger and Carol purchased a farm on the Vernon Voss Road between Denison and Schleswig, where they raised their family and made their home until 2012 when they moved to Schleswig.

Roger helped build and was among the first employees at Iowa Beef Processors while also beginning his lifelong career in farming. A hardworking and dedicated farmer, he raised dairy cows and other livestock and took great pride in caring for the land. Roger founded ROCA Trucking and ROCA Hay Baling, both of which he operated for many years.

Roger loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the farming life. He especially appreciated his John Deere tractors and the many hours spent working the fields. Following their retirement, Roger and Carol enjoyed spending their winters in Donna, Texas. During those years, they met many new people and formed lasting friendships. Above all, Roger cherished his family. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved spending time with them, and treasured the memories they made together throughout the years.

Roger passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Gracewell in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, eight months and 30 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law: Gale Whited and Larry (Kay) Voss.

Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Walde of Schleswig; children: Lynette (Gaylen) Mohr of Vail, Kevin Walde of Denison, Colleen (Larry) Goering of Denison and Karla (Chad) Weis of Carson; grandchildren: Michael Mohr, Mallory Mohr, Justin (Leah) Walde, Chris Walde (Jessica), Logan (Kendra) Walde, Dustin Goering, Amanda Goering, Mathew (Megan) Trierweiler, Malissa Trierweiler, Allisyn (Keyton) Wichman, Olivia Weis and Alexander Weis; great-grandchildren: Damion, Nevaeh, Dylan, Gracelynn, Jacob, Ainsley, Wyatt, Ava, Lauren, Amery and Kollins; sisters: Diane (Dennis) Sonnichsen, Jolene Whited and Sandra Baak; great-aunt, Marilyn Yoakum; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.

His memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., with visitation to follow from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The family will direct memorials.
