Ronald Lee Raymond Bernard Bruning was born August 27, 1942, the son of Aaron and Francis Osterholt Bruning. He died Friday, December 11, 2009, at his home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-seven.
Ronald was born in Carroll, Iowa. He received his education at Kuemper Catholic Schools in Carroll, graduating from the Kuemper Catholic High School with the class of 1960. After completing his education he worked at various jobs.
On February 1, 1964, Ronald was united in marriage to Marvel Ransom in Jefferson, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll and were blessed with the birth of two children. Ronald started working at the Safeway Grocery Store in Carroll for twenty-five years as a meat cutter. After Safeway closed he went to work for Farmland Foods in Denison, retiring in 2008, after twenty-six years.
He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who really enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a handyman who enjoyed helping people build various items and with home renovations during his free time. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, watching soap operas on television and feeding the neighborhood cats, squirrels and birds. In his younger years he loved traveling to Montana, Las Vegas, Lake Taho, the Black Hills and Branson.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, two children in infancy, one sister, Alvina Wieland, one brother in infancy and his parents-in-law, Joe & Edna Wolfe. Survivors include his wife, Marvel Bruning of Denison; two daughters, Carla Gosch of Denison; and Pam Kendrick and her husband, Steve of Carroll; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Al Snyder and his wife, Charlene of Omaha, Nebraska; Robert Snyder of Carroll; and Melvin Snyder and his wife, Bernie of Clear Lake; one sister, Lorraine Boell and her husband, Virgil of Carroll; many other relatives and friends.
