Rosemary (Iske) Muff was born September 15, 1927, the daughter of Lawrence and Irma Iske. She died at her home in Denison, Iowa, Friday, December 15th at the age of 90 years and 3 months.
Rosemary was born in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended grade school in LaPlatte, NE and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1944. Rosemary shared many stories of riding her horse to and from school.
On October 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Joseph H. Muff at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, Nebraska. The couple settled on a farm northwest of Dow City where she helped Joe farm and raise their 10 children. Joe and Rosemary were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dow City, Iowa. Rosemary was the first converted member of St. Mary’s.
In May 1996, Joe and Rosemary retired and moved to Denison, Iowa. Rosemary enjoyed decorating her new home with Terry Redlin pictures and entertaining her family. In October of that same year, Joe and Rosemary celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Rosemary’s past times included spending time with family and friends. She also liked to travel and was known by her family as the “world traveler”, having travelled to China several times and visited many countries in Europe and Asia. Rosemary experienced numerous highlights during her travels. She visited many religious sites, including Medjugorji, Oberammergau and Fatima. Rosemary went to the Vatican and saw the Pope. She kissed the Blarney Stone, saw the Terra Cotta Warriors, rode a camel up to the pyramids and walked the Great Wall of China. Rosemary loved sharing stories of her many travels.
Rosemary was instrumental in planning entertainment for family get-togethers. She enjoyed trying new restaurants, attending shows and plays in Omaha and going to the movies. Rosemary was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed watching Nebraska Football games. She also enjoyed watching award shows and Dancing with the Stars.
In September, 2017, Rosemary was honored for her 90th birthday celebration. An open house was held in Omaha to celebrate this milestone birthday. Her celebration was attended by over 100 family members, relatives and friends. Rosemary really enjoyed her birthday celebration. She received many cards for her card shower and was pleased hearing from so many people.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband Joe, her son Harold, and two grandsons. Survivors include: five sons, Joe, Larry, Richard, Robert, Tom and spouses; four daughters, Marilyn, Janet, Barb, Donna, and spouses, 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one brother, Lawrence Gene Iske, and one sister, Joan Gearhart.
