Rusty Siefken

September 17, 1967 — April 26, 2025

Rusty Lee Siefken was born on September 17, 1967, the son of Keith and Susan (Sander) Siefken in Omaha, Nebraska. He was baptized at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Omaha and later confirmed in 1982 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Rusty graduated with the Denison High School Class of 1986 and continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.

For the past 13 years, Rusty worked at Jackson Services. On August 6, 2018, he married Melissa, and together they blended their beautiful families into one. They were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, where they worshiped together.

Rusty loved the outdoors and found joy in attending ‘80s hair bands concerts with his wife, especially Motley Crue, whom he saw over 30 times. He was obsessed with Nikki Sixx, and the best experience of his life was getting to meet him, thanks to his brother, Ryan. He loved planting flower gardens around their home, grilling for family dinners, and swimming in their backyard. He was a devoted fan of the Nebraska Huskers. Most of all, Rusty cherished his family. He adored them deeply and was a beloved Papa whose fun stories and gift for storytelling will be forever missed.

Rusty passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Nebraska Methodist in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 57 years, seven months and nine days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Roy and Vera Siefken and Bill and Willetta Sander and mother-in-law, Carmen Hamilton.

Rusty is survived by his wife, Melissa Siefken of Omaha, Nebraska; children: Shadow Siefken of Hurlburt Field, Florida and Zoe Siefken of Omaha; parents, Keith (Susan) Siefken of Omaha; stepchildren: Josh (Shawna) McCoid of Belleville, Illinois, Luke (Jessica) Schwade of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jake (Karrie) Schwade of Charter Oak, Brandon (Mikayla) Schwade of Hawarden, Ross (Shianne) Schwade of Odebolt and Lauren Schwade of Denison; seven grandchildren; siblings: Robin (Scott) Fredericks of Omaha, Ryan Siefken of Papillion, Nebraska and Rhonda (PJ) Kosloske of Omaha; seven nieces and six nephews; father-in-law, Robert Hamilton of Denison; and many other family members and friends.
